"To shamans everything in the physical universe is alive and imbued with spirit or life force, particularly crystals. Shamans, intermediaries between the physical and spiritual levels of being, traditionally used crystals for soul retrieval, empowerment, divination and journeying between the worlds to seek insights and solutions. All facilitated by crystals. Certain crystals even have specific allies, power animals or spirit beings, connected to them to assist you in your quest." Judy Hall
In this monthly series, participants will gain a foundation for how to select, cleanse, dedicate, activate and work with crystals. Each session will include a healing share as well as a shamanic journey, as assisted by the featured crystal.
Session 20 is dedicated to Purple Jade, The Stone of Mirth and Happiness: Purple Jade offers the experience of knowing one carries essential joy within them, and encourages the letting go of self-imposed limitations to allow the abundance of the Universe to release that joy.
Purple Jade is a stone of mirth and happiness. By purifying the aura and dispelling any negative feelings or attitudes, it allows for the spontaneous joy of life to fill the soul and spill over to others. The humor evoked by this stone enhances appreciation of the Divine order in all things.
Purple Jade, in shades of light to dark violet, is also a stone of discernment. Its frequency speaks of spiritual knowledge and the ability to use that information to decide what is most aligned with one’s personal path.
Purple Jade is a variety of Jadeite, one of two distinctly different minerals that share the name Jade. Nephrite is a calcium magnesium silicate with a smooth surface polish and waxy sheen, usually in shades of white, mid- to deep olive green, brown and black. Jadeite is a sodium aluminum silicate, hard and lustrous, rarer than Nephrite, and usually more expensive. It occurs in various colors, including white-gray green, leafy green, blue or blue-green, emerald green, lavender or purple, pink, red, orange, greenish-black or black. Though they have different compositions, hardnesses, densities and crystal structures, both are exceptionally tough stones, similar in appearance, and equally valuable in metaphysical properties. In this article, both minerals will be referred to as Jade, except for attributes listed that are specific to Purple Jade.
Jade, in all forms, is valued most for its metaphysical properties. It is the ultimate "Dream Stone," revered in ancient cultures, as well as today, to access the spiritual world, gain insight into ritualistic knowledge, encourage creativity, and dream-solve. It is cherished as a protective talisman, assuring long life and a peaceful death, and is considered a powerful healing stone. An amulet of good luck and friendship, Jade signifies wisdom gathered in tranquility, dispelling the negative and encouraging one to see oneself as they really are.
Jade is the stone of calm in the midst of storm. Its action balances nerves and soothes cardiac rhythm. A piece of Jade kept in a pocket or on a pendant to stroke from time to time recharges energy, and traditionally guards against illness. Jade may also be used to temper the shock or fear of the very young or very old being cared for in the hospital or away from home and family.
Purple Jade opens the Crown* and Third-Eye Chakras, and powerfully links them with the Earth Star Chakra*** below the soles of the feet, allowing for the regulation of energy throughout the body and aura.
*The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head, and is our gateway to the expanded universe beyond our bodies. It controls how we think, and how we respond to the world around us. It is the fountainhead of our beliefs and the source of our spirituality. It connects us to the higher planes of existence and is the source of universal energy and truth. When the Crown is in balance, our energies are in balance. We know our place in the universe and see things as they are. We are unruffled by setbacks, knowing they are an essential part of life. Imbalances of the Crown chakra are treated with Light Violet crystals. Their violet rays have the universal life force of magic, dreams, inspiration, and destiny.
**The Brow, or Third Eye Chakra, is the center of our perception and directs our sight and everyday awareness of the world. Our consciousness is located here, and commands the energy flow within the body. When the brow chakra is in balance we can interpret visual cues and our perception is high. Our thoughts and internal communications within ourselves are healthy and vibrant. We are open to new ideas, dreams, and visions.
***The Earth Chakra is located between and slightly below the feet. It holds the soul into carnation and creates a solid connection to the planet Earth, allowing excess and out-of-balance energies to flow from the body.
Uses:
Beneficial to the nervous system, and can assist those suffering from hives, rashes or outbreaks exacerbated by stress.
A powerful cleansing stone, enhancing the body's filtration and elimination organs.
Treats the kidneys, spleen and supra-adrenal glands, removing toxins and balancing the fluids and water-salt/acid-alkaline ratios in the body.
Has a restorative property, allowing for both the cellular and skeletal systems to re-bind themselves, and assists in the removal of pain associated with the body's healing of itself.
Helps stitches to bind and heal properly, and has been used to diminish cramps and "Charlie horses.
Heals feelings of guilt, and for extreme cases of defeatism.
